Call for Illustrators Eli and Mort’s Epic Adventures, Vail
Call for Illustrators Eli and Mort’s Epic Adventures, Vail

Have you always wanted to be a published illustrator and older than my little sister who is 5 but definitely not really old, like less than 18? Then come to our call for illustrators on Sunday, November 2nd at the Alpine Arts Center in Edwards at 4:00 PM.

Mort and I are planning our next adventure in Vail! We had awesome kids from around the Vail Valley Illustrate our first book in Beaver Creek.  Now we are looking for friends to help us illustrate our next adventure in Vail.

Here are some examples of the SWEET images in the first book. This is by Ella Smiley, our youngest amazing artist.  She is only 7 — The Beaver Creek 2015 World Ski Championships night sky.

And another cool drawing by Sophie Russell, Age 11 of Blue Moose Pizza!

I know they are so cool aren’t they?  Anyway, Mort and I really want you to come.

We’ve even got pizza coming from the Blue Moose, so your parents won’t have to worry about dinner.

It is a competition.  So you will have to work really hard and practice. Mort and I are used to practicing skiing and snowboarding. But I can’t draw. Neither can Mort. That’s why we need you!

:-) See you soon!

Vail Ski & Snowboard Swap and Moose Family Reunion
Vail Ski & Snowboard Swap and Moose Family Reunion

We just got back from the 45th Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap in Vail. There was so much awesome gear there. I got a cool new helmet, blue of course and some great ski socks. My dad and stepmom got cross country skis but I’m not sure why they want to ski across the county. That sounds crazy to me. My dad says that the swap benefits Ski & Snowboard Club Vail. He told me just like our Book, “Eli and Mort’s Epic Adventure – Beaver Creek 2015” benefits the Youth Foundation. Both Mort and I said that was cool.

When we first got to the Dobson Ice Arena, in Lionshead we had to wait in line. We were so excited to see all of the new ski equipment that we imagined ourselves with our new skis practicing all of our winter tricks. I hope I get a snowboard this year. I’m a really good snowboarder you know. Actually, I know I’m going to be really good, but I have never tried it. But my dad says I can this year!!! Whoopee.

Well wouldn’t you know, when we were waiting in line we ran into Mort’s cousin, Manny and his Aunt Maisy. It was a blast! Manny is so big, so we climbed on up and played with him for awhile.

Manny the Moose and Aunt Maisy were hungry so they sat down and ate some grass. I’m not sure why they ate grass when there is perfectly good pizza in Lionshead and Vail. Mort and I were hungry also. So we gobbled up some yummy pizza that we got from the Blue Moose in Lionshead.

Before they headed out, we said goodbye. It was weird how so many people stopped to look at them when they were leaving. You know the funny thing is that we were looking at the guy carrying the cool skateboard. That was AWESOME! You know I am really good at skateboarding. Mort likes to scooter better. We rock the skate park. It is so much fun.  EliMort_Skateboarder_Moose.F14

Vail Beaver Creek 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and Eli and Mort Coming Soon

Hello Friends!

I was sitting here with Mort thinking about all the cool events we have coming up.  We couldn’t keep it quiet anymore.  My Dad said it was AOK to spill the beans. So here we go.

We get to go to the Bookworm on December 4th at 6pm and see all of our friends – the kids that illustrated the book.  We are REALLY excited to have a fun night out and meet their families.  Everyone is invited!  Save the date! We can’t wait. The young illustrators will all be there to sign the book! Mort and I already signed it :-).

We also have a call out for illustrators for our next book which is on Sunday, November 2nd, 4 PM at the Alpine Arts Center in Edwards.  Pizza is in the menu!

Our book is available for preorder at the Bookworm and in the  2015 stores – the official 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships ones!  I guess in a way this makes us official!

Next Mort and I will be wondering around lots of fun kids places coming up to Christmas. My Dad said the events are a secret. But we will be able to tell you about them soon, so stay tuned.

So Mort and I were playing with our friends in Eagle. We were talking about all of the great athletes that are getting ready to come to Beaver Creek for the Championships but we didn’t realize that Mort’s friend Bobby the bear was here also! Mort was so excited to see his old friend.

I hung back because my dad always told me to stay away from bears. So I let Mort catch up with his friend. Turns out Bobby the Bear was eating berries from the tree. Mort liked the berries also. But my dad told me the berries weren’t the kind that kids eat.

It was fun. Mort thought so too. So did Bobbi the bear.

Eli and Mort – September 30, 2014 Snow on Beaver Creek

HOLY COW! Mort and I decided to hike up Beaver Creek today because someone said there was snow. Well, guess what….There is!

Just a little snow and we can’t actually ski yet but it was fun to play in it and we actually threw snowballs at each other. I made a snow angel and Mort made a moose angel. We were cold.

Guess what! we also watched the hard workers work on the new Gondola/Chairlift that they are putting up in Beaver Creek. I can’t wait to ride up that new lift. I say we are going to get in the Gondola but Mort says that our first ride will be on the chair part. Either way, it’s going to be AWESOME.

We are just counting down the days until opening day. If dad lets us we will sleep out so we can get the first chair. But I bet he won’t because of school.
